Video Guitar Lessons - A Great Way To Learn Or Not

Two of the most popular ways of studying to play the guitar are books and video guitar lessons. In the past books have invariably been the most popular method but now that videos are more available they are pretty much neck and neck.

If you can't afford a private coach then there is no doubt in my opinion that the best means to study to play the guitar is by video. The main reason for this is a video is more involving than a book and can display you things in far greater detail than a book could ever identify. The lessons also feel more energizing and serve to keep you more focused.

Many study to play guitar video come in the MPEG format but you will also find numerous versions utilizing avi and midi formats. All of these are compatible with Windows media player and that is why they are really common selections of format. Before you use any videos to learn to play the guitar make certain that the format is compatible with the software program you are using.

Not all videos will instruct in a fashion that you will feel comfortable with. For this reason I would suggest trying to acquire a clip or demonstration of the video you are considering.

The beginning lesson should invariably be about the basics, without the basics you will find it a good deal more difficult to move on to advanced levels. Likewise attempting to start playing higher levels sooner than your at that skill point will in the end lead to frustration and therefore destroying whatever enjoyment you may have learning the guitar.

Utilizing a personal tutor can be a great manner to learn to play but it is very pricey and likewise needs a fair quantity of time, that is why video is becoming a great option for so many people. What it lacks in feedback and motivation it makes up for in price and the fact that you can fit it around your own individual time.

Overall utilizing video guitar lessons is a superb way to learn to play the guitar. Just be positive to acquire a course that you feel comfortable with and that will hold your interest going and you should have very few problems.

Great article! I teach via video and it works great. I think there's a middle ground - allow students to submit video and get feedback on their playing. Almost as good as a private teacher and better in some ways as they can review the video multiple times (many times students forget most of what was talked about in the lesson).
